Ferrari head home early [31-Jan-2002-14h17 CET] - Ferrari have packed up and gone home after just one and a half days at the Barcelona test. The unexpected trip back to Italy is due to running out of cars to test. In two separate incidents yesterday (Wednesday) both of their cars were badly damaged.

Barcelona Testing [30-Jan-2002-09h56 CET] - Last weeks Barcelona test has continued over the weekend and into this week. Saturday (26th) saw Williams top of the tree in their FW23B beating last years Jaguar R2C by 0.8s. Marc Gene's top time was however 1.48s off the circuit record (1m 17.328s) set by Wurz in the McLaren the day before.

Prost close down [29-Jan-2002-10h04 CET] - As expected Alain Prost's Prost Grand Prix team went into liquidation yesterday (Monday). The team went into receivership in November and had till last week to put together a financial rescue package. Despite many rumours no plan substantial enough to satisfy the courts has evolved and so the team is to close.
The new car is presented to the worlds media during the launch of the new Renault F1 R202 Formula One car at the Technocentre in Paris, France.
Renault launch R202 [28-Jan-2002-11h23 CET] - Yesterday (Sunday) Renault launched their 2002 race car, the R202, in front of an invited audience at the Technocentre in Paris. The launch marks the return to F1 of a 100% Renault works team following the purchase of Benetton in 2000. The new car, designed by Mike Gascoyne, is a full redesign built around the new RS22 engine.

Sauber launch the C21 [25-Jan-2002-16h58 CET] - Today (Friday) Sauber officially launched their 2002 race car the C21. The launch took place at their main offices in Hinwil, Switzerland. Although the media have already seen the car on track in tests at Fiorano and Barcelona this was the first time it had appeared in full sponsorship livery.
